AI assistant

“I already ask Claude anyway. Why open another tool?”

CovaSyn in your AI assistant

You ask as usual in Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor. Your assistant calls the matching CovaSyn computation, and the result comes back to the chat with a source reference. The connection runs over the open Model Context Protocol (MCP).

Tools · MCPCall from the assistant

Which isotope pattern should I expect for sildenafil in MS?

covams_isotope("C22H30N6O4S")
→ M 474.2049 · M+1 27.3% · M+2 8.9%
M+0: 474.205 u, 100.0%100%MM+1: 475.208 u, 27.3%27%M+1M+2: 476.205 u, 8.9%8.9%M+2M+3: 477.206 u, 1.7%1.7%M+3

The sulfur visibly raises M+2. Source: tool call, version in the log.

Example of a call. Isotope pattern computed from the formula C₂₂H₃₀N₆O₄S (natural abundances).

Setup

How to connect your assistant.

You need a CovaSyn account. After that, connecting takes a few clicks, or one copied block for Cursor.

Claude

Claude Desktop and claude.ai connect through a custom connector. Sign-in runs through OAuth; no key is needed.

  1. 01

    Add a connector

    In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors, and add a custom connector.
  2. 02

    Enter the address

    Name: CovaSyn. As the address, enter this URL:
    URL
    https://mcp.covasyn.com/mcp
  3. 03

    Sign in and allow

    Claude opens the CovaSyn sign-in page. Sign in and confirm the connection with “Allow”.
  4. 04

    Enable it in the chat

    CovaSyn appears among the tools in the chat. Click it once, then ask your question as usual.

Custom connectors are not available on every Claude subscription. If the button is missing, that is usually why.

ChatGPT

In ChatGPT you add CovaSyn as your own app, with no file and no key. Sign-in runs through OAuth.

  1. 01

    Add a new app

    In ChatGPT, open “Apps & Connectors” and add a new app.
  2. 02

    Fill in the fields

    Name: CovaSyn. MCP server URL as below, authentication: OAuth. ChatGPT fills in the advanced OAuth settings itself once it probes the address.
    URL
    https://mcp.covasyn.com/mcp
  3. 03

    Acknowledge and create

    ChatGPT shows a standard notice for every custom MCP server. Acknowledge it and click “Create”. The CovaSyn sign-in page then opens.
  4. 04

    Allow the connection

    Sign in and confirm “Connect ChatGPT to CovaSyn?” with “Allow”. ChatGPT takes over from there.
  5. 05

    Enable it in the chat

    In a new chat, enable CovaSyn under “Tools” at the input field, once per chat.

Custom apps are not available on every ChatGPT subscription. If “Apps & Connectors” is missing, that is usually why.

Cursor

Cursor reads the connection from a configuration file and sends your API key as a header.

  1. 01

    Generate a key

    Generate a key in the dashboard under API keys. It is shown exactly once. How to get a key.
  2. 02

    Add to the file

    Add this block to ~/.cursor/mcp.json and insert your key:
    ~/.cursor/mcp.json
    {
      "mcpServers": {
        "covasyn": {
          "url": "https://mcp.covasyn.com/mcp",
          "headers": { "X-CovaSyn-Key": "<your-key>" }
        }
      }
    }

Example prompts

Questions from everyday lab work, ready to copy.

Replace the placeholders in angle brackets with your data. Assessing the result stays with you.

Morning analytics

  • Use CovaSyn to predict the ¹H NMR, MS and IR for the structure <SMILES> and list the expected signals as a table. Then compare them with my measured signals: <your signals>.

  • New peak at <area percent> %, accurate mass <m/z> in positive mode. Use CovaSyn to propose formulas, check ring and double bond equivalents and isotope pattern, and name the experiment that decides between the candidates.

Preparing a release

  • Assay of this batch in % label claim, months 0 to 24: <values>. Lower specification 95.0 %. Use CovaSyn to check for OOS and OOT and list the flagged points with their time points.

  • Does the spectrum fit the declared structure? Structure <SMILES>, measured ¹H signals <ppm, multiplicity, integral>. Use CovaSyn to predict and flag deviations.

Assessing stability

  • Accelerated arm at 40 °C / 75 % RH, initial value 100.0 % label claim, values <month: value>. Use CovaSyn to check for significant change under ICH Q1A and name the value and time point of the largest change.

  • Assay data at 25, 30 and 40 °C: <table>. Use CovaSyn to fit Arrhenius and estimate shelf life under ICH Q1E from the long-term data, against the one-sided 95 % confidence bound. Report both numbers separately.

Classifying an impurity

  • ICH M7 classification with CovaSyn for N-nitroso-propranolol, SMILES CC(C)N(N=O)CC(O)COc1cccc2ccccc12. Report both methods separately, check the applicability domain and say whether the 1.5 µg/day TTC applies.

  • Assess these impurities against the drug substance <SMILES> under ICH M7 with CovaSyn: <SMILES list>. Per impurity: class, similarity to the drug substance and applicability domain, as a table for review by our toxicology team.

Your data

What CovaSyn reads and what never happens

What reaches CovaSyn is what your assistant passes to a tool, and only that.

What arrives

What your assistant passes on
The scientific inputs of a call: structures (SMILES, InChI, MOL, SDF), sequences, spectra and measurements. Please do not pass on personal data.
Technical details
Timestamp, name of the tool, request size, response status and the IP address, truncated after 24 hours.
Not your chat
Your assistant processes the chat itself at its own provider. With ChatGPT we do not collect any conversation beyond the specific call.

What happens to your data

Inputs and results of your tool calls are processed in memory and not stored permanently. Short-term operational logs that may contain content are deleted after 30 days at most. The only lasting record is the audit trail without content: timestamp, tool, version, outcome and key identifier.

On request we delete your data within 30 days, backups included. Rights to inputs and results remain yours.

Limits

What CovaSyn never does

  • No training on your data

    Your inputs serve only the request at hand. The commitment is in the GDPR Art. 28 DPA.

  • No decision without your experts

    Assessments such as ICH M7 follow a fixed process for review by your experts.

  • No invented values

    Calculations use fixed methods: the same input gives the same result.

  • No answer without a source

    Every calculation step comes with a source reference and a record of which model was involved.

Questions

Common setup questions

Do I need an API key?

Not for Claude and ChatGPT: sign-in runs through OAuth there. For Cursor, generate a key in the dashboard and send it as the X-CovaSyn-Key header.

Which other clients work?

Any MCP-capable client connects through the same address, for example Claude Code or VS Code. The configuration per client is in the MCP documentation.

Does the assistant compute itself?

No. Your assistant understands the question and calls the matching CovaSyn computation. Calculations use fixed methods: the same input gives the same result.
